We prove that the topological cycle space C(G) of a locally finite graph G is generated by its geodesic topological circles. We further show that, although the finite cycles of G generate C(G), its finite geodesic cycles need not generate C(G).

Geodetic Topological Cycles in Locally Finite Graphs

We prove that the topological cycle space C(G) of a locally finite graph G is generated by its geodetic topological circles. We further show that, although the finite cycles of G generate C(G), its finite geodetic cycles need not generate C(G).

An Alexandroff topology on graphs

Let G = (V,E) be a locally finite graph, i.e. a graph in which every vertex has finitely many adjacent vertices. In this paper, we associate a topology to G, called graphic topology of G and we show that it is an Alexandroff topology, i.e. a topology in which intersec- tion of every family of open sets is open. Then we investigate some properties of this topology. Our motivation is to give an e...

A sufficient condition for Hamiltonicity in locally finite graphs

Using topological circles in the Freudenthal compactification of a graph as infinite cycles, we extend to locally finite graphs a result of Oberly and Sumner on the Hamiltonicity of finite graphs. This answers a question of Stein, and gives a sufficient condition for Hamiltonicity in locally finite graphs.

On the hamiltonicity of line graphs of locally finite, 6-edge-connected graphs

The topological approach to the study of infinite graphs of Diestel and K ̈hn has enabled several results on Hamilton cycles in finite graphs to be extended to locally finite graphs. We consider the result that the line graph of a finite 4-edge-connected graph is hamiltonian. We prove a weaker version of this result for infinite graphs: The line graph of locally finite, 6-edge-connected graph w...

Locally finite graphs with ends: A topological approach, II. Applications

This paper is intended as an introductory survey of a newly emerging field: a topological approach to the study of locally finite graphs that crucially incorporates their ends. Topological arcs and circles, which may pass through ends, assume the role played in finite graphs by paths and cycles. This approach has made it possible to extend to locally finite graphs many classical theorems of fin...
